Preston Watts is a dynamic singer-songwriter from Huntsville, Alabama, blending Americana, Indie Rock, and Pop music into a sound that’s both heartfelt and infectious. His journey began at the age of six, when he first sat down at the piano. Over the years, he expanded his repertoire to include electric and acoustic guitar, keyboards, bass guitar, cello, drums, and vocals, proving himself a multi-instrumentalist with a deep passion for music.
While attending the University of North Alabama, Preston pursued a degree in Music Business and Technology, where he honed his skills both behind the microphone and behind the scenes. A pivotal moment in his career came when he interned at The Nutthouse Recording Studio under Grammy Award-winning producer Jimmy Nutt. There, Preston mastered the art of recording, mixing, and producing music—a skillset that would shape his future work.
In 2020, Preston returned to The Nutthouse as an artist, this time stepping into the studio to record his debut album, Distractions from the Truth. Over the course of a year, Preston and co-producer Jimmy Nutt worked tirelessly to craft an album that reflects Preston’s introspective lyrics and rich, diverse instrumentation. Released in October 2020, the album marked his official entry into the music scene, and since then, he’s had the privilege of opening for renowned acts such as Shenandoah, The Boxmasters, The SteelDrivers, The Red Clay Strays, and more.
After a brief hiatus from 2022 to 2024, Preston is reigniting his passion for music with a renewed energy. He is currently in the studio working on his highly anticipated second album, with plans to release new singles in the near future.
